Jhansi: UP animal husbandry and dairy development minister Dharampal Singh on Friday urged investors to set up dairy industries in Bundelkhand, assuring them of security as well as benefits and incentives under govt schemes.Addressing a dairy conclave, ‘Swarnim Dughdhamrit Samvad Samagam’, organised at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, Singh said Jhansi, Chitrakoot Dham and Kanpur divisions had immense potential in agriculture, animal husbandry and dairy development. He said the govt was working to strengthen the entire dairy value chain, including milk production, processing, value addition and cold-chain infrastructure, to increase farmers’ income and generate employment for women and youth.Singh said livestock rearing along with agriculture could substantially improve farmers’ incomes. Dairy commissioner Dhanlakshmi K said UP was the country’s leading milk-producing state and the govt was working to provide dairy farmers with assured markets, transparent pricing and sustainable incomes through the Nand Baba Milk Mission and Dairy Development Policy-2022.She said around 1,200 beneficiaries in Jhansi, Chitrakoot Dham and Kanpur divisions had received more than Rs 13.5 crore in subsidies through direct benefit transfer under the Nand Baba Milk Mission. Investment proposals worth Rs 15 crore in Jhansi division, Rs 4 crore in Chitrakoot Dham division and Rs 171 crore in Kanpur division had also been received under the Global Investors Summit, she said.Jhansi DM Gaurang Rathi said the dairy sector had emerged as a strong pillar of the rural economy and the division had significant potential for milk production, processing and dairy entrepreneurship.
