Hyderabad: Following the Inter results on a Sunday, Tele Manas, the govt helpline for mental health support, received only about 20-25 calls. Psychologists said that most callers were students seeking guidance on what to do after failing their exams. They said that they have not received any extreme distress calls.“When compared with last year, we received at least five times fewer calls. Last year, we got over 120 calls, whereas this time, we did not even receive 30,” said P Jawaharlal Nehru from Tele Manas. He noted that, in a way, it is good that this generation appears less worried about marks compared to the previous generation, and that parents too are not putting excessive pressure on their children.A few also pointed out that another reason why not many approached Tele Manas might be because of lack of awareness, as unlike last year, many sites had pop-ups suggesting students seek help in case they are unable to bear stress or anxiety. As per those managing the helpline, most questions were related to supplementary examination dates, syllabus, and reverification, among others, and not about being unable to handle pressure.
