Ahmedabad: A complaint has been lodged by Gomtipur ward’s former corporator Iqbal Sheikh after insects were allegedly found in food served to patients at the ESIC General Hospital in Bapunagar.According to Sheikh, the incident occurred on March 30, around 6pm, when dinner was served to patients admitted in the hospital’s women’s ward. At least three patients complained of insects in the khichdi served to them.Calling it a case of “serious negligence,” Sheikh said the hospital, run by the central govt’s Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). It has a 300-bed facility with an average of 180-200 indoor patients daily.Sheikh stated that he has submitted a written complaint to the Union minister concerned, the medical commissioner (west zone), and the regional director ESIC, demanding strict action against the responsible officers and the contractor handling food services.
