Jamshedpur: The forest department has deployed three veterinarians to take care of the elephant which sustained leg injury in an IED blast in Koyan forest range in Saranda in West Singhbhum district on Sunday. A 13-year-old male elephant’s front right leg is said to be fractured. Forest officials on Tuesday said that the elephant is currently lying in a large drain and is in frail condition.“Passive medication is being administered to the injured elephant on-site. Once its condition stabilises, we will consider tranquillizing it to transport to rescue centre. Three veterinarians are stationed at the site to monitor its health,” Saranda DFO Aviroop Sinha said.
