Mysuru: A six-and-a-half-month-old boy died after swallowing a hibiscus calyx kept at the entrance of his house in Doddahejjur village of Hunsur taluk on Saturday.According to family sources, the calyx lodged in the infant’s lungs. The infant, Chinmay Gowda, was playing with his elder brother when he picked up the flower kept at the doorstep following a prayer ceremony and swallowed it before it could be removed. Family members rushed him to a hospital in the city, but he could not be saved. He breathed his last late on Saturday. The funeral was held the same day.Chinmay, the second child of Sudarshan and Navya, was born in Aug 2025
