Mysuru: Women agriculture labourers were felicitated by Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association, at Jaladarshini Govt guest house on Monday. Nagamma from Alaganchi village, Nanjangud taluk, Rupa from Shanthipura of HD Kote taluk, Bhagyamma from Vajamangala of Mysuru taluk were felicitated on the occasion. The association president, Kurubur Shanthakumar, highlighted the contributions of women in revolutionising the Indian agriculture system and appealed the govt to extend free insurance cover and health care facilities for all women agriculture labourers. He condemned the MLA for seeking IPL tickets from the govt instead of working for the interest of the farmers. State Sugarcane Growers Association treasurer MB Chethan urged the state and union govts to ensure 50% reservation for women in all sectors. State organising secretary Attahalli Devaraj, general secretary Baradanapura Nagaraj were present.
