Prayagraj: At least nine people, including six members of a family including a six-month-old infant, were injured after a fire broke out due to a domestic LPG cylinder leak at a house in Pilkhini village under the Kalyanpur police station limits in Fatehpur district late Sunday.After receiving the alert, teams from the police, administration, and fire department rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.All nine injured persons were initially taken to the district medical college, where doctors referred eight of them to Kanpur for further treatment. Police created a green corridor to ensure their swift transfer to Kanpur, where they were admitted to Ursala Hospital for treatment.Police said the fire broke out at the house of Santosh Lodhi after a domestic LPG cylinder leaked, injuring six members of his family, including Kalawati (40), Sanjan (17), Sangeeta alias Sunita (22), Sanjay (23), Sulekha (8), and a six-month-old infant.Hearing their cries, neighbours rushed to the spot to douse the flames. However, three of them — Karan (26), Reeta (32), and Soni (9) — also sustained injuries during the rescue efforts.The fire also destroyed several household items, including two sacks of wheat.
