Srinagar, Mar 10: Indian medical students studying in Iran have been allowed to leave the country through the Armenia land border after booking confirmed flights to New Delhi. The development has brought relief to students and their families who were worried due to the tense situation in the region.
Many Indian students studying at Urmia University of Medical Sciences are planning to return home through the Urmia, Armenia, Dubai route. Students said they are making travel plans and booking flights from Armenia, with some opting to transit through Dubai before reaching New Delhi.
Students from Kashmir studying in Urmia said the decision has given them hope of returning home safely. They said uncertainty and security concerns had created anxiety among students and parents over the past few days.
JKSA leader Nasir Khuehami confirmed the development and said Indian students can now move towards the Armenia border once they secure confirmed flight tickets to Delhi.
“Several students have already started the process of booking flights and preparing for travel,” he said, adding that the first group of students is expected to move towards the Armenian border soon.
Many students from Kashmir studying in Urmia are closely coordinating with each other to plan the journey and ensure safe travel, the JKSA leader added.
Parents of the students have also expressed relief after learning that their children will be able to leave the conflict-affected region.
Students said they are in touch with Indian authorities and student groups for guidance regarding travel and border crossing procedures.
They expressed hope that the journey through Armenia will remain smooth so that all Indian students can safely return to India in the coming days.
