New Delhi, March 18 : Several Indian medical students have safely returned home as evacuation efforts continue from conflict-affected regions, while many others remain stranded at key border points.
A flight carrying 20 students from Armenia landed in India at 9:55 AM on 18 March. In another development, 4 students who had crossed the border earlier arrived in India at 3:40 AM from Baku.
However, the situation remains critical at the Azerbaijan–Iran border. As highlighted by Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan, Vice President of AIMSA, several students are not being allowed to cross. Many have also incurred financial losses, as their flight tickets have gone to waste due to ongoing uncertainty.
Meanwhile, 86 students from Shiraz have successfully reached Armenia and are scheduled to depart on 20 March. Students from Golestan University have also safely reached Armenia.
Additionally, a significant number of students are currently in Qom, where they are being accommodated in arrangements facilitated by the Indian Embassy.
Authorities continue to closely monitor the situation, with efforts underway to ensure the safe return of all stranded students.
