Nagpur: Whenever the world finds itself in crisis and begins to falter, India emerges as the guiding force, said RSS sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat on Monday, crediting the country’s enduring spiritual foundation as the source of this resilience. “The spiritual knowledge discovered by India’s ancestors remained largely unknown to the rest of the world and continues to shape the country’s response in such times,” he said.In his statement, which comes amid the West Asia conflict, Bhagwat emphasised on India’s civilisational continuity. “When storms of materialism and consumerism rise elsewhere, societies collapse. Here, that wave comes and passes, yet we remain,” he said.The RSS chief was speaking at a seven-day ritual ceremony organised by Shri Majjinendra Panchkalyanak Pratishtha Mahotsav in Tulsi Nagar, Nagpur.“Yunan-o-Mistra-o-Roma sab mit gaye jahan se, kuch baat hai ki hasti mitati nahi hamari (Greece, Egypt and Rome empires vanished from the face of the earth, yet there is something about us that our identity never diminishes). That ‘hasti’ is our knowledge — the spiritual knowledge we have received from our saints and sages since time immemorial,” he said.Placing it in a wider context, he said, “The immortality of our nation, which ensures well-being and harmony, rests on the saints and sages. Sustaining this legacy is a collective responsibility,” he said while urging individuals to see themselves as instruments of that larger spiritual force.Highlighting the role of saints and spiritual leaders, Bhagwat said their contribution has been central in shaping society. “For ages, saints and great personalities have prepared society in such a way that it adapts, evolves and sustains itself,” he said. He urged people to imbibe their teachings, noting that even being in the company (satsang) of such individuals can transform lives and society at large.He noted that human beings often centre their lives around the self. “The ego becomes the focal point of our existence, family and society. However, expanding one’s perspective beyond the self and placing the world at the centre makes life more vyapak (expansive),” he said adding that this spiritual outlook offers a “complete vision of life”, guiding both philosophical understanding and practical living.The RSS chief further added, “Those who have lived spirituality in its true sense can, through their authoritative speech, show the right path in times of difficulty, and those paths, being rooted in spirituality, are inherently correct.”
