IMI has announced the appointment of Prof. Amit Sareen as the Director of IMI Bhubaneswar, effective July 1, 2026. This new leadership appointment aligns with the institute’s strategy to advance its practice-led curriculum, accelerate its global accreditations efforts, and deepen industry integration.

He will also focus on furthering IMI Bhubaneswar’s approach of combining academic rigour with hands-on, experiential learning.
Commenting on the appointment, Dr. Suresh Ramanathan, Chief Executive Officer, IMI, said, “The role of a business school is no longer limited to teaching concepts. Students today need more than subject knowledge. They need confidence, practical exposure, and the ability to adapt to change. IMI understands these expectations, which is why we have appointed Prof. Sareen. He has worked across both industry and academia, bringing the exact experience our students need. We are pleased to welcome him to the IMI family and are confident he will make a meaningful contribution to the institute’s continued growth.”Speaking on his appointment, Prof. Amit Sareen, Director, IMI Bhubaneswar, said, “It is a privilege to join IMI Bhubaneswar and collaborate with our exceptional faculty, students, alumni, and industry partners. My focus will be on further supporting the campus’s academic environment, expanding our research culture, and deepening corporate connections. Management education is most effective when students seamlessly connect classroom concepts with real-world scenarios. Creating greater opportunities for hands-on learning and diverse perspectives is a shared priority, and I look forward to working together to advance the institute’s goals.”Prof. Sareen is an alumnus of FMS Delhi and IIT Roorkee and brings more than 30 years of experience spanning academic leadership and global corporate practice. He has held senior leadership roles at business schools in India and led international accreditation processes such as AACSB and AMBA. Prior to academia, he spent nearly a decade in the technology and telecommunications sectors across India and the United States, including with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in US, where he managed enterprise accounts such as Bank of New York and GE Corporate.
