Vadodara: The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of the Vadodara rural police seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 96.59 lakh that was allegedly being smuggled into Gujarat from Goa. The seizure was made near Gokalpura village in Vadodara taluka.The LCB team acted on a tip-off that a large consignment of liquor was being transported in a truck along the new expressway. Officials laid a watch on the highway and intercepted the truck near Gokalpura village.During the inspection, police found 1,290 boxes containing 61,920 quarter bottles of liquor concealed in the vehicle. The truck driver, identified as Lakhan Bishnoi, a resident of Sangariya village in Luni taluka of Jodhpur district in Rajasthan, was arrested.During questioning, Bishnoi told police that he had been called to Goa by an acquaintance, Rajuram Bishnoi, a resident of Finch village in Luni taluka. Rajuram allegedly connected him with a man identified as Dharma, who handed over the truck loaded with liquor near the Madkai Industrial Area in Goa.Police said the total seizure, including the truck and liquor consignment, is valued at Rs 1.06 crore.
