Kanpur: The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has received a commitment of Rs 10 crore from its alumni Dr Naresh Chand Gupta and his wife Nidhi Gupta to strengthen student residential infrastructure on the campus.The contribution will support the construction of a residential tower in the upcoming Hall of Residence 15. As part of the agreement, the institute will recognise Dr Gupta’s contribution by naming the residential tower in accordance with his wishes.The proposed residential facility will feature modern amenities, including study spaces, recreational areas, dining facilities, collaborative lounges and accessibility-friendly infrastructure. It will also incorporate sustainability measures such as solar energy integration, rainwater harvesting, energy-efficient systems and eco-friendly construction practices.Dr Naresh Chand Gupta is the founder of AccuraCap, a technology-driven asset management firm that applies quantitative research and artificial intelligence to investing. Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, said, “We are grateful to Dr Naresh Chand Gupta for this generous contribution to student infrastructure.” The Hall of Residence 15 project is part of IIT Kanpur’s broader vision to create future-ready campus infrastructure that supports academic excellence, student well-being, sustainability and community building.
