Guwahati: The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G) has launched a new MTech programme in robotics and artificial intelligence for fresh graduates as well as working professionals seeking to build expertise in AI-driven robotics systems.The programme, offered by the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Sustainability, will be delivered in hybrid mode, combining online classes with on-campus laboratory sessions and final examinations at IIT Guwahati.One of the main features of the programme is that applicants do not need a GATE score. Admission will be based on a written test and interview conducted by the institute.According to the institute, the programme was designed to bridge multiple engineering disciplines for development in sectors such as agriculture, defence, manufacturing, healthcare, transportation and smart infrastructure.The application portal for the first batch is now open. The deadline to apply is July 15 and classes are scheduled to begin on Aug 10.Prof. Hemant B Kaushik, the dean of Outreach Education and Skilling in IIT Guwahati, said, “The programme addresses the growing demand for expertise in intelligent systems, offering cutting-edge, interdisciplinary learning in machine learning, computer vision and robotics through a flexible format….”The programme will have a minimum duration of two years and can be extended up to five years.
