T’puram: Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Thiruvananthapuram will hold its 14th convocation at Vithura campus on Sunday.Abhay Karandikar, member, NITI Aayog and former secretary, department of science and technology, will be the chief guest and deliver the convocation address at the programme.Degrees will be conferred upon 210 BS-MS students, 58 PhD students, 21 Integrated PhD students, 28 MS (research) students, 6 BSc. and 78 MSc students by chairperson of senate and director S Murty Srinivasula.A significant number of graduating students have secured admissions and research opportunities at several globally acclaimed universities, including University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (USA), Washington University in St. Louis (USA), The Pennsylvania State University (USA), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), Freie University Berlin (Germany), and the University of Groningen (The Netherlands).Established by govt of India in 2008, IISER Thiruvananthapuram is one of the country’s premier institutions dedicated to science education and research. The institute integrates high-quality teaching with cutting-edge research in modern science and comprises of six academic schools—Biology, Chemistry, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Earth, Environmental and Sustainability Sciences—and two research centres focusing on advanced materials and high-performance computing.
