Srinagar, September 4: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone Sujit Kumar, IPS, on Friday chaired a high-level security review meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess and strengthen security arrangements ahead of the forthcoming International Film Festival.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, CID, Traffic Police, SDRF and other security agencies, besides officials from the Information, Tourism and Fire & Emergency Services departments.
The meeting focused on comprehensive security preparedness, deployment plans, venue security, traffic management, crowd control, emergency response mechanisms and coordination among various agencies to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the festival.
During the meeting, IGP Kashmir reviewed the overall deployment and security arrangements being put in place at identified venues. He stressed the need for strategically planned deployment of personnel, keeping in view the expected movement of visitors, participants, dignitaries and other stakeholders.
Sujit Kumar directed officers to ensure thorough route clearance and appropriate deployment of Road Opening Parties (ROPs) along designated routes for the safe and uninterrupted movement of people and dignitaries. He also called for preventive measures to be undertaken well in advance and directed officers to maintain heightened alertness throughout the festival.
The IGP further emphasised effective crowd management and regulated entry and exit arrangements at festival venues. Traffic Police officials were directed to formulate comprehensive traffic management plans and ensure adequate deployment of personnel at vulnerable, sensitive and congested points to facilitate smooth vehicular movement and minimise inconvenience to the public.
Stress was also laid on strengthening surveillance and maintaining close coordination among all participating agencies. Officers were directed to ensure real-time sharing of information and maintain a robust and responsive security grid throughout the event.
The meeting concluded with a detailed review of preparedness measures and directions for further strengthening security arrangements in close coordination with all concerned agencies.
The coordinated measures are aimed at ensuring a safe, secure and well-managed environment for visitors, participants, dignitaries and the general public during the forthcoming International Film Festival.
