T’puram: Ten films from across the world will be screened under the international animation section of the 18th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK), scheduled to be held here from Sept 25 to 30.Organised by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, the festival will feature films from US, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Portugal, Poland, Israel, Australia and UK as part of the ‘Vanguard Motion’ package. Six of the films completed during 2025-26 have no dialogue.The American film ‘Acid City’, directed by Luce Grosjean, follows a documentary crew arriving in a flooded city surrounded by an acidic ocean. Spanish film ‘Anaglyph‘ explores the mental turmoil of Violet, who lives in a world marked by anxiety.German film ‘Baer Baer‘, directed by Clara Schulze, centres on Bär, who encounters his doppelgänger after being content with his solitary life. ‘Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe!‘ follows Yios, a boy with a sun-like shining head, as he searches for friends among the clouds and experiences a change in outlook after coming to earth.‘Fast Rats‘ by Anna Juesas García uses humour to depict the destructive rivalry between two food-truck operators, while ‘In the Beginning‘ examines humankind’s attempts to reshape nature according to its own logic.Other films in the package include ‘Rodeo, Saba‘, ‘Trading Cards‘ and ‘WideSpread‘, exploring themes ranging from loss and identity to human relationships and personal experiences.Delegates can register online at registration.iffk.in.
