Kurukshetra: Union minister of state for law and justice Arjun Ram Meghwal on Sunday said legal and ethical frameworks must be rooted in human welfare, stressing that India’s vision of a “Developed India” extends beyond economic growth to a human-centric digital transformation.Addressing a programme at Ambedkar Law College in Kheri Markanda village, organised by the Ambedkar Education Society, Meghwal said India, as the world’s largest democracy, stands to benefit significantly from active youth participation. “Their involvement will give new direction to democratic processes, technological advancement and public engagement,” he said.Emphasising legislative precision, Meghwal noted that every word in legal drafting carries weight and forms the backbone of governance.Earlier, the minister, along with former MP Ishwar Singh, laid the foundation stone of a women’s hostel to be built at a cost of ₹6 crore. District and Sessions Judge Dinesh Kumar Mittal was also present.Meghwal later interacted with law students on recent legal developments and reforms and reviewed facilities at the college.He said the Centre has introduced new laws to strengthen public safety and ensure timely justice, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. Initiatives such as online case management systems, e-courts and video-conferencing hearings are being implemented to modernise the judicial system. Efforts are also underway to fill vacancies and increase the number of judges.Acknowledging challenges such as case backlog, complex procedures and resource constraints, Meghwal said these are being addressed through coordinated efforts between the government and the judiciary.Former MP Ishwar Singh said around 400 students are enrolled at the college, which provides comprehensive facilities. He emphasised the role of education in societal progress, adding that the Ambedkar Education Society is working to empower youth to contribute to the vision of a developed India.Several dignitaries, public representatives, faculty members and students attended the event.Ends MSID:: 129734458 413 |
