Localite Veeresh Ballari said sightings of wild animals are common in the area. He stated that crocodiles, sloth bears, wild boars, foxes and peacocks are frequently seen in and around the river stretch. “Many farmers here have seen at least 3-4 big crocodiles in the river,” he said.According to him, the river stretch flowing from the Devghat Amruteshwar Temple to Ballari Channappa’s agricultural land in Mothighat becomes shallow during the summer season. As a result, crocodiles come out of the water, and bask in the sun along the banks.Veeresh and farmers have requested forest department officials to install warning signs in the area to alert people.
