Chandigarh: Consequent to the decision by the Punjab and Haryana high court, which set aside the chargesheet against former Haryana CM Bhupinder Hooda in the case of Associated Journals Limited (AJL), the special court for Prevention of Money Laundering Cases for Haryana at Panchkula on Friday exonerated Hooda in the PMLA case as well. Rajeev Goyal, special PMLA judge, allowed the application moved by defence counsel SPS Parmar on Friday. The said application was moved last week, and the arguments were held on March 27.Notably, since 2019, Hooda and now deceased Congress leader Moti Lal Vora were facing trial in the case in this court. Proceedings against Vora dropped in 2021 after his death, while Hooda was facing the probe. Hooda had also challenged the chargesheet of the case predicate to this before the high court. The HC disposed of the case in favour of Hooda, and in March, the defence counsel moved the application for exonerating Hooda while annexing the copy of order from Punjab and Haryana high court.
