Silchar: Police arrested a retired teacher for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl at a homeopathy clinic.The accused was arrested after the girl’s family lodged a complaint at the police station in Cachar district.The incident allegedly occurred on Sunday at a clinic where the accused practises homeopathy after retiring from teaching. Sources said the girl visited the clinic for medication for body pain. The accused allegedly took her to a private cabin on the pretext of conducting a physical examination and sexually assaulted her.The victim’s mother, in her FIR, said her daughter returned home without taking the medicine and broke down in tears. She alleged that the elderly doctor touched her inappropriately and attempted to sexually assault her.“Our daughter managed to come out of the cabin by pushing him. She has been traumatised since the incident,” the FIR stated.After a preliminary inquiry, police arrested the accused under relevant provisions of the Pocso Act. A court in Lakhipur remanded him in judicial custody.The incident sparked outrage in the locality, with residents demanding strict action. A Bajrang Dal leader sought severe punishment for the accused and warned of protests if the case was not handled urgently.
