Chandigarh: The Haryana Olympic Association (HOA) on Monday approved standard guidelines for selection trials and coaching camps ahead of national events, besides clearing preparations for the 28th Haryana State Games at its annual general meeting in Panchkula on Monday.The guidelines mandate document verification during registration and require selection trials to be held 20–25 days before competitions. The association also approved the formation of commissions on athletes, ethics, women’s sports, medical and sports science, legal affairs, finance and marketing.The meeting was under the chairmanship of president Capt Jaswinder Meenu Beniwal at Olympic Bhawan, Panchkula. General secretary and Haryana development and panchayats minister Krishan Lal Panwar was also in attendance and launched the HOA’s official website during the meeting.The house paid tribute to deceased sportspersons and sports administrators, confirmed the previous AGM proceedings and approved the action-taken report. It reviewed the successful implementation of the 27th Haryana State Games, noting strong athlete participation, merit certificate distribution, and inclusion of the Games in Haryana’s sports gradation policy. Expenditure, annual accounts and the audit report were unanimously approved.Beniwal said the HOA remained committed to “sports development, protection of athletes’ interests, transparency and good governance in sports administration.”The AGM welcomed publication of a coffee table book and post-Games report, whose first copies will be presented to chief minister Nayab Singh Saini.
