Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has issued a warning after noticing that some private water tanker operators are illegally using its official logo.Officials said the unauthorised use of its logo is a serious offence, as it misleads the public into believing these private tankers are part of the government’s water supply system. The board noted that several private borewell tanker operators are supplying water while falsely using the department’s name, logo and branding.HMWSSB clarified that water supplied by these private tankers is usually sourced from borewells and is neither treated nor tested as per official safety standards. Such water may pose health risks and should not be considered safe for consumption, officials cautioned.Taking a strict view, the water board has initiated legal action against those involved. In a recent case, a private tanker found displaying the official logo was seized, and a criminal case was registered against the operator.
