Sarma, who will take oath as chief minister for the second consecutive time, stated on X, “With the blessings and trust of the people of Assam, today I submitted the proposal for government formation to governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at the Raj Bhavan. To fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the general public and to make the journey towards development, good governance, and a prosperous Assam more dynamic, we are once again committed.”
According to a statement issued by the Lok Bhawan on May 10, Acharya will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Sarma along with members of the new Council of Ministers on May 12 at the Veterinary College Field in Khanapara, Guwahati. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the event.
The NDA leaders had met the governor in Guwahati and formally staked claim to form the government with the support of 102 MLAs. “I have been elected leader of the BJP Legislature Party. NDA allies AGP and BPF have also elected me as their leader. I have the support of 102 NDA MLAs and their signatures,” Sarma said, while reading out the letter submitted to the governor.
