Ahmedabad: Former Gujarat University vice-chancellor Neerja Gupta has alleged bias in an inquiry committee constituted by the incumbent VC to probe the appointments of retired officials on high salaries during her tenure. She also demanded a reconstitution of the panel.The probe was initiated following complaints by student organisations alleging irregularities in appointing retired personnel to key university departments, including accounts, GUSEC, and estate, on hefty pay packages. The university formed a three-member inquiry panel after Gupta demitted office. However, the composition of the committee was subsequently altered, and the new panel is reported to have already submitted its findings.In a social media post on Thursday, Gupta questioned the impartiality of the panel, stating that two members were pre-biased against her and could not conduct a fair probe.According to GU sources, the original panel comprised Bhavesh Bharwad from the law separtment, a professor from IQAC, and a third member. The current VC reconstituted the panel by replacing two original members with syndicate member Hiren Jadav and Smita Shah.
