Henry Zankov's Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2027 Debut Welcomes a New Generation

Atop The High Line, just above Diane von Furstenberg’s Meatpacking District store, Henry Zankov unveiled his vision for the iconic label on Thursday morning. As the official start to the New York Fashion Week schedule — and one of the buzziest designer debuts — Diane von Furstenberg’s Spring 2027 collection was awash with vibrant prints and an arresting color palette, which is right in Zankov’s wheelhouse.

The New York-based designer, who previously worked at Diane von Furstenberg under Jonathan Saunders, is known for his keen eye for playful colors and silhouettes seen throughout his namesake label. Now, Zankov’s design approach is merging with Diane von Furstenberg’s archival animal prints and signature seductive attitude. (“Diane always told me it was all about ‘body language’,” Zankov wrote in the collection’s show notes.)

“DVF is really a brand of heritage and the visual vocabulary is so strong that everything is there,” Zankov told Fashionista after the show. “It’s more about pushing it into the future and really making it appealing to a new generation.”

For Spring 2027, the collection explores the natural ease of “a woman in motion,” per the show notes. Gauzy maxi dresses, crinkled chiffon and bias-cut silks graced the runway, along with strategic bursts of pattern mixing. Of course, the label’s signature wrap dress also made an appearance. The runway location only exemplified the collection’s flowing silhouettes, as billowing trains and feather-light layers swayed with the morning breeze.

Zankov is also doing double duty this week, as the designer still helms his namesake label, which is hosting its Spring 2027 runway on Monday. “Obviously both brands, there is definitely a lot of crossover with color and pattern, but DVF is more sexy, more seductive, and I think Zankov is more cerebral,” Zankov said, reflecting on the differences of designing for both brands.
