Chennai: Leader of Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday strongly condemned the state government for allegedly placing multi-purpose health workers under house arrest to prevent their planned protest in Chennai, demanding job regularisation.

In a social media post, he accused the government of “abandoning” pre-election promises made to medical staff.

He questioned the “atrocity” of preemptively detaining workers at their homes before they could participate in what he described as an unprecedented protest.

Udhayanidhi drew parallels between these actions and the detention of youth protesting election irregularities in Delhi.
