Madikeri: A free health check-up camp was organised by the Anti-Naxal Force at Valmiki Bhavan in RG village of Virajpet taluk. This camp was organised for the tribal communities in Naxal-affected areas. The programme was organised under the guidance of Hariram Shankar, SP of Anti-Naxal Force. Kodagu district superintendent of police RN Bindu Mani said that the camp was organised with the aim of providing good health services to the tribals living in the remote areas affected by Naxals at their doorsteps and creating awareness about health among them. Dr K Amarnath Shetty Charitable Trust chairman and AB Shetty Dental College associate dean Dr Amarashree Amarnath Shetty and a team of other doctors inaugurated the programme. Dr Amarashree Amarnath Shetty launched it. Dr Shilpa of AB Shetty Dental College, Nitte; Dr Kushal of Justice KS Hegde Charitable Hospital, Deralakatt; and Dr Guruprasad of Iksha Eye Hospital, Madikeri, were present. A team of about 50 doctors participated. A total of 275 people from the Kadukuruba, Jenukuruba, Soliga, Erava and Kudiya tribes of the Naxal-affected areas of Kodagu attended the camp.
