Srinagar, Sep 19: The Haj Committee of India (HCoI) has allotted 500 Haj seats under the Mehram category for Haj-2027 and invited online applications from eligible female intending pilgrims.
According to Circular No. 14, issued by the HCoI under the Ministry of Minority Affairs, the special provision has been introduced to accommodate female candidates who could not apply for Haj-2027 earlier due to the non-availability of passports or other genuine reasons, but whose male companions (Mehram) had successfully applied and were selected.
The online application facility will remain open on the official Haj Committee website from September 23 to October 7, 2026.
As per the circular, applicants under the Mehram category must not have performed Haj earlier through the Haj Committee of India, Haj Group Organisers (HGOs), or any other means. They must also fulfil all other criteria prescribed for Haj-2027.
Applicants are required to possess a valid, machine-readable Indian International Passport, issued on or before the last date of application and valid at least up to December 31, 2027.
The applicants will have to upload the first and last pages of their valid passport, a recent passport-size photograph, proof of address and a valid document establishing their relationship with the Mehram. Applications without the required documents will be rejected.
The committee has also specified that a maximum of five pilgrims can be included in one cover. A lady pilgrim will not be eligible to apply in a cover that already includes a female pilgrim.
Female intending pilgrims who have already applied for Haj-2027 and whose covers have been generated will also not be eligible to apply under the special category.
The Haj Committee said applications would be considered on merit, subject to the availability of seats. In case the number of eligible applications exceeds the available quota, Digital Random Selection (Qurrah) will be conducted to allot the seats.
The committee has advised eligible applicants to submit their applications only through its official website. Hard copies, handwritten or typed applications will not be accepted.
