Chennai: Madras high court reserved its order on a plea moved by DMK MLA G V Markandayan challenging his remand in connection with the case registered for his alleged derogatory and threatening speech against chief minister C Joseph Vijay.On Tuesday, concluding the final hearing, Justice G K Ilanthiraiyan reserved his orders. According to the prosecution, during a public meeting organised to thank voters at Kovilpatti in Tuticorin, Vilathikulam Assembly constituency MLA Markandayan allegedly made defamatory remarks and levelled threats against the chief minister.The MLA submitted that he had been arrested without first being issued a notice to appear for investigation and that the arrest violated the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court.
