Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has censured the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for not processing ‘exit permit’ of US national, James Watson, booked for allegedly attempting religious conversion, despite a sessions court order.Watson moved the HC after the FRRO refused to process his exit permit. Justice N J Jamadar said a government agency cannot “dilute” or nullify the effect of a court order through indirect means, and directed the FRRO to process petitioner’s application immediately. Watson was booked by Thane police for allegedly attempting religious conversion. He was granted bail by additional sessions court in Oct 2025. PTI
