Hazaribag: Office-bearers of close to 100 akhadas in the city will elect the president of Hazaribag Ramnavami Mahasamiti on Mar 14. Six contenders are in the fray for the post. The Mahasamiti is the umbrella body responsible for ensuring peaceful Ramnavami festivities in the district.Organisers said 216 voters, who are presidents and secretaries of various akhadas and former office bearers of the Mahasamiti, will cast their vote on Mar 14 at the Bada Akhada. “A meeting regarding the selection of the president was held at Shri Ram Janaki Math, Bada Akhada Temple. As no consensus could be reached on a candidate, the new president will be elected through voting,” Vijayanand Das, the Mahant of akhada, said.Notably, Ramnavami is scheduled on March 27-28.
