Vadodara: A 16-year-old boy rammed his car into three two-wheelers in the Karelibaug area late Monday night, injuring three people, police said. The accident occurred near the Amitnagar Circle flyover.Officials said the teenager was driving his father’s car at high speed when he lost control. He first hit a motorbike, then another two-wheeler, before crashing into a tempo under the flyover.Police have registered a case of over-speeding and rash driving against the minor. Locals reportedly roughed up the boy and damaged the car before police arrived and took him into custody.The teenager, a resident of Harni, told police he had taken his father’s car to go out for ice cream without informing his mother.“The police have registered an FIR, and the boy’s parents will also be called for questioning,” said S V Vasava, inspector at Harni police station.The incident comes amid a rise in rash driving cases in the city. Over a year ago a law student, crashed his car into several vehicles in the Karelibaug area, killing a woman and injuring eight others.Last month, a businessman was arrested by Raopura police for rashly driving his car and ramming it into a traffic signal at Raopura crossroads. In Nov last year, a woman was booked for reckless driving after hitting two men on Makarpura Road.City police had conducted a road safety campaign in recent months to educate commuters on following traffic rules, including wearing helmets, avoiding signal jumping and adhering to speed limits. However, incidents of rash driving and traffic violations continue to rise.
