Hazaribag: A 35-year-old woman died at a private nursing home in Hazaribag on Friday night allegedly due to complications following a hysterectomy procedure, prompting protests by her family members and a probe by the district administration.Hazaribag civil surgeon Dr Ashok Kumar on Saturday formed a three-member inquiry committee to probe the incident. The panel, headed by Dr S K Rajan and comprising Dr Rahul Kumar and Dr Deepti, inspected the nursing home, examined records and collected relevant documents. “Appropriate action will be taken after the inquiry report is submitted,” Kumar said.The deceased, Sushila Devi, hailed from Tilehati village under Padma police station limits. She was admitted to the nursing home in Nawabganj locality on Friday night. Family members alleged that Sushila didn’t regain consciousness after the operation, adding that they were later told by hospital authorities that her condition turned critical and advised that she be shifted to Ranchi for advanced treatment.Sushila was being transported in an ambulance when the driver informed the family that she had already died. They brought the body back to the nursing home to launch a protest. Amid the protests, the nursing home’s management and staff allegedly fled after locking the premises.Sushila is survived by five children — two daughters and three sons. Relatives said the eldest child is around 10 years old. Repeated attempts to contact the nursing home owner for comment were unsuccessful.
