Hazaribag: A team of the district officials led by Sadar circle officer Ashutosh Kumar on Monday removed structures and fencing which had been allegedly set up illegally on a disputed govt plot at the uptown Hurhuru Mohalla in Mouza Cantonment. On June 18 and July 19 this year, administrative teams intervened and halted attempts to fence the plot and begin construction. Subsequently, a verification of land records had been carried out, which established that the process for resumption of land has been initiated. An anti-encroachment drive was carried out in 2023 after the plot was identified as govt property.“The action was taken based on govt records, and an FIR is registered at Bada Bazaar police station,” Kumar said.Inspection revealed that encroachers had pulled down a boundary wall of an adjoining private property to create an access road to the plot, and old structures on the plot were being used to store construction materials. All construction materials were seized, and the local civic body was asked to remove them using tractors. When asked about the alleged involvement of a former minister, Kumar said, “The matter is under investigation. Cases relating to the disputed land had already been registered at Bada Bazaar police station in 2023 and that the police and revenue authorities were examining the records to identify all persons named in those cases. Appropriate legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible in accordance with the law.”
