Bathinda: With western disturbance causing a deluge in North India, Haryana recorded a large extent of rainfall of over 1000% excess continuously on two days. Haryana recorded 1037% excess in 24 hours from the morning of March 18 to the morning of March 19 as it received 2.3 mm against a normal of 0.2 mm, while the state recorded 1846% excess from the morning of March 19 to the morning of March 20 as it received 5.8 mm against a normal of 0.3 mm.Punjab too recorded large excess rainfall on these two days as it recorded 284% excess till the morning of March 19 as it received 1.5 mm against a normal of 0.4 mm, and the state recorded 661% excess rainfall till the morning of March 20 as it received 5.3 mm against a normal of 0.7 mm rain.Himachal Pradesh recorded 233% excess rainfall from the morning of March 18 to the morning of March 19 as it received 11.6 mm rain against a normal of 3.5 mm. The state received 435% rain from the morning of March 19 to the morning of March 20 as it received 21.4 mm against a normal of 4.0 mm rain.The large excess rainfall in Punjab and Haryana is being seen as unfavourable for the crops. As the rain was followed by a thunderstorm at various places, the wheat crop has flattened at various places. The excess rain and high-velocity winds are also impacting sarson apart from vegetables, including capsicum, and certain fruits, including muskmelon.
