Ahmedabad: A woman sought the Abhayam helpline’s help for alleged harassment by her husband as well as lover. According to Abhayam officials, the woman, who lives in the city’s western area, had a love marriage 10 years ago. After a few years, the husband began harassing her over their sexual relationship, forcing her to fulfil his fantasies, leading her to attempt suicide, officials said. She then became friends with her gym trainer, a divorcee. “The two became quite close and she sought emotional support from him, but soon, he began harassing her. Whenever she would bring up talk about his behaviour, he would remind her of the help he extended. Seeing no way out, she called the helpline,” said a counsellor.After the helpline’s intervention, the trainer agreed to delete their pictures together, which he was using to harass her, and assured the team he would not contact her. The woman said that she did not want to go back to her husband, as the team recommended psychiatric intervention for him.
