Kanpur: A day after an under-construction bridge collapse claimed the lives of six workers in Hamirpur, an FIR was lodged against the company involved in the project, along with its director and site supervisor, on charges of negligence.The complaint was filed by Setu Nigam deputy project officer Dilip Kumar, who alleged lapses by the private construction firm and its officials.Kurara police station in-charge Prince Dixit said that, acting on a written complaint, the police registered an FIR against Messrs The Shelter Company, its owner Vijay Pratap Singh, and site supervisor Nitish Sachan.The FIR was lodged under BNS Sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 125(a) (acts endangering human life or personal safety through rash or negligent conduct).Six workers were killed and three injured after part of an under-construction bridge on the Betwa River collapsed during a storm. The incident occurred around 3 am between Parsani and Kandaur villages when several labourers engaged in the bridge construction work were sleeping on the upper portion of a slab when it suddenly gave way. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rescued three workers trapped under the debris. The rescue operation lasted for more than seven hours.Chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the loss of lives and termed the incident as extremely saddening. The CM conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.DM Hamirpur Abhishek Goyal has constituted a three-member committee to probe the incident. The committee will submit its inquiry report within one week.
