Srinagar, July 25: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Saturday expressed support for protesting NEET aspirants, saying their concerns should have been addressed before the situation escalated.
In a statement, Hakeem said the grievances raised by students regarding the NEET examination were not addressed in time, leading to distress among lakhs of aspirants and their families.
He said the alleged use of force against protesting students could have been avoided through timely intervention and responsible decision-making by authorities.
Calling for accountability in the education system, Hakeem said responsibility must be fixed wherever lapses occur. He added that the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had become necessary in view of the concerns raised by students across the country.
Hakeem urged the government to ensure a transparent and fair examination system where student grievances are addressed promptly.
“The youth are the future of the nation. Their voices should not be ignored, and every effort must be made to protect their rights, dignity and aspirations,” he said.
