H-NEW team with seized drugs

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) police arrested two accused persons in the Old City in a joint operation with Hussainialam police and seized narcotics and other items worth ₹13.2 lakh from their possession on Thursday night.The accused were identified as Md Saif (31), a driver from Ghansi Bazaar, and Sameer Babubhai Waghela (25), an unemployed man from Kurla West in Mumbai. According to the police, Saif is a local peddler, while Sameer is a drug transporter who came from Mumbai to deliver the narcotics consignment to him.Acting on specific information, the police arrested Sameer and Saif at Murgi Chowk near Khilwat. They seized 120 grams of hydroponic ganja, five grams of cocaine, 27 LSD blots, two mobile phones, and a car from their possession.According to H-NEW DCP Vaibhav Gaikwad, Saif had been procuring the contraband from an absconding Mumbai-based supplier, Aditya, and Sameer acted as the courier who transported the drugs from Mumbai to Hyderabad. “Saif has been selling drugs to local consumers by taking orders on the phone. He has been using the drug money to lead a lavish lifestyle,” the DCP said.Saif was earlier booked in two NDPS cases at Abids and Afzalgunj police stations. A case was registered against the duo under the NDPS Act. They were produced before a court and sent to judicial remand on Friday. Police said a special team would be dispatched to Mumbai to arrest the absconding supplier, Aditya.
