Patna: Governor Syed Ata Hasnain on Monday exhorted the women to develop self-confidence and contribute meaningfully to all-round development of the country. They must have faith in themselves and strive to scale newer heights in relatively ‘untouched’ fields, he said.Speaking as the chief guest at the annual function of city-based Magadh Mahila College (MMC), a constituent unit of Patna University (PU), Hasnain pointed out that today women are excelling in the fields of politics, administration, science and technology, and industry. Eulogising the performance of women in the Army, he said in border areas, women officers were performing their duties on a par with their male counterparts.Lauding the all-women Navikaka Sagar Parikrama mission launched by the Indian Navy, the governor said he has always been advocating for increased participation of women in the national defence services.Congratulating the college girls on receiving gold medals and prizes for their outstanding performances in academics and other co-curricular activities, he said the girls should not limit their aspirations. They can become Prime Minister or win the Nobel Prize with their sustained efforts and disciplined life, he said. He released a college journal and gave away prizes to the girls for securing first rank in university examinations.PU vice-chancellor Ajay Kumar Singh, MMC principal N P Verma, IQAC coordinator Pushplata Kumari and principals of other PU colleges were present on the occasion.
