GURGAON: Despite a forecast of light to moderate rainfall, the sky remained clear on Sunday, pushing up the maximum temperature by nearly three degrees in 24 hours.The maximum on Sunday was 35°C. It was 32.3°C on Saturday. The minimum rose by four degrees to 21.2°C, compared to 16.5°C the previous day.IMD, however, continued its yellow alert for Monday, predicting light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds reaching 40–60 km/hour.The expected weather activity may bring temporary relief from the rising heat.Meteorologists attribute the prevailing conditions to multiple weather systems influencing the region. According to IMD, a western disturbance persists as an upper air cyclonic circulation over north Iran and the adjoining Caspian Sea, extending across different atmospheric levels. Additionally, an upper air cyclonic circulation over northwest Rajasthan, along with a trough extending towards central parts of north Madhya Pradesh, continues to impact regional weather patterns.IMD forecast that maximum temperatures are likely to fall gradually by 2–4°C across the state till March 30, followed by a rise of 3–5°C till April 2.In Haryana, Chandigarh, Karnal, Jind, and Ambala recorded scattered light rainfall.Data showed the average maximum temperature across the state rose marginally by 0.4°C compared to the previous day, remaining near normal levels.
