GURGAON: A two-year-old girl was killed after a speeding car ran her over while she was playing outside her house in Sector 5 around 9pm on Monday.The child, identified as Adhiraj Tiwari, was playing outside when the car hit her.Her parents, who were standing nearby, immediately took her to Manipal Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.Adhiraj’s father, Virendra Tiwari, works as an engineer with an IT company. The incident was captured by nearby CCTV cameras. In the footage, the accused driver is seen taking a turn while the girl was sitting and playing on the road outside her house. The driver failed to spot the child on the road and ran her over, killing her on the spot.The driver, who lives close to the Tiwari family’s house in the same Sector 5 locality, stopped to check on the child.After the crash, the driver accompanied the family to the hospital but later fled the scene.After receiving information about the incident, a police control team reached the spot and collected details before forwarding them to the Sector 5 police station.Police took custody of the child’s body on Tuesday morning and sent it for a postmortem examination. The initial investigation indicates that the car was travelling at high speed, despite the accident taking place on an internal sector road.
