Gandhinagar: Recognising the role of Gujarat Urban Development Mission (GUDM) in urban planning and management, India Water Foundation announced that GUDM will be given the ‘Best Community Impact Project Award’ for the integrated command and control centre (ICCC) that was set up to oversee sewer network cleaning operations in 156 municipalities of the state.The award will be presented to GUDM at the Water Transversality Global Awards and Conclave 2026, organised by India Water Foundation in New Delhi on March 6 and 7, an official statement said on Monday.The statement said that the construction of an advanced ICCC strengthened operations through the use of technology. Maintenance of the sewer network in the state’s municipalities is being carried out more effectively, and millions of litres of water are being saved due to reuse.The statement said that optimal use of technology made it possible to better supervise operations and is enhancing the vision of environmentally friendly urban development. Recognising this effort by the state govt, the jury awarded the Best Community Impact Project, the statement added.Through the GUDM, modern infrastructure and planning are being implemented in both major cities and municipal areas of the state to enhance citizen welfare.
