Ahmedabad: The registration window for degree engineering courses for the new academic year will open today. According to the admission committee for professional courses (ACPC), students can apply online till May 31.The students will be applying for 78,611 seats: 10,957 in 16 govt and three grant-in-aid colleges; 156 seats in one autonomous institution; and a significant share in 120 self-financed colleges. Additionally, the state govt is expected to increase around 2,500 seats in govt colleges, with official confirmation to be announced soon.Last year, students gained admissions to 41,442 seats. Only candidates who have appeared for GujCET 2026, JEE 2026, or both are eligible to register. Students who appeared in previous years but not in the current academic year will not be considered. Those who passed through supplementary exams must upload all mark sheets during registration. Candidates awaiting improvement exam results need not worry, as their updated results will be automatically considered.As per eligibility criteria set by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), general category students must have secured at least 45% in Class 12, while reserved category candidates require 40%.Self-financed institutes will fill 50% of their seats independently, including management quota seats, of which 15% are reserved for NRI candidates.Students are advised to carefully follow official guidelines and updates issued on the ACPC website to avoid any errors during the admission process.
