Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) examinations held on Monday were largely syllabus-based for both Class 10 and Class 12 Science students.Class 10 students appeared for second-language papers, including Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Sindhi, Persian and Arabic, while Class 12 Science students took the Biology examination.According to the subject expert, Mitesh Pathak, the Class 10 Hindi paper was mainly based on the prescribed textbook. Essay topics included “Mera Desh Mahan” and the advantages and disadvantages of science.Most questions were drawn from the syllabus, making it easy for students to complete the paper. The Sanskrit paper was also based on the textbook. The grammar section and shlokas were from topics students had prepared as part of their course material.For Class 12 Science, the biology paper was also reported to be largely based on the prescribed textbook. Part A included a few numerical-type questions and diagram-based questions. Students who had prepared thoroughly from the textbook were able to answer most questions comfortably. Some students found around five multiple-choice questions in Part A slightly tricky. In Part B, the presence of general options made the paper easier for students. Although three to four questions were asked in a slightly twisted manner, students did not face major difficulties because alternatives were provided. Overall, Monday’s GSHSEB papers for Class 10 second languages and Class 12 Science Biology were reported to be largely in line with the prescribed syllabus.
