VADODARA: A man and a minor girl, who were in a relationship, died by suicide and streamed their act live on Instagram in Dahod district.The incident occurred on Sunday in the forest area of Singvad taluka. The incident left their families in a state of shock as many people watched the suicide live on Instagram.The police said that the deceased Rajesh Ninama was having an affair with the 16-year-old girl.However, their families were against the relationship. “Rajesh had taken the girl to meet his parents a few days ago and sought permission for marriage. But his parents refused as the boy and girl were from the same caste,” said Shailesh Baria, a police official from Randhikpur police station.The couple, both residents of Limkheda taluka, got upset and decided to end their lives.On Sunday morning, they reached a forest area in Haripur village of Singvad taluka at around 10am.22-year-old Rajesh turned on his Instagram live and put a piece of cloth on a tree’s branch. They both hung themselves while over 50 people were watching the act.The cops were informed about the incident following which they reached the spot and brought down the bodies.“They didn’t leave any suicide note behind. We are investigating if there is any other reason behind their extreme step,” Baria said.
