Gandhinagar: A meeting of the state BJP parliamentary board was held at the chief minister’s residence in Gandhinagar on Tuesday to finalise candidates for the upcoming local body elections.The state unit of the BJP is expected to release its first list of candidates for elections to municipal corporations, municipalities, district panchayats and taluka panchayats. The state unit of the Congress party has already released its first list of candidates for the various municipal corporations of the state. Elections will be held for 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats and 260 taluka panchayats.Congress releases manifesto for five more cities The Congress party on Tuesday released election manifestos for Vadodara, Mehsana, Nadiad, Morbi and Vapi cities. A party statement said that the manifestos were prepared based on representations of people during the Jan Aakrosh Yatras held over the past few months. On Monday, the party released manifestos for Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar and Porbandar.
