Ahmedabad: A minor from Kalol is in the ICU of a private hospital in Sargasan after she was allegedly taken to a hotel and sexually assaulted by a boy from Gandhinagar on Friday, police said.According to a complaint filed by her father, the minor left home around 7am on Friday to attend college with her classmate. Around 1pm, she spoke to her father and told him she was at college and planned to visit her maternal aunt after classes.When she did not return home or reach her aunt’s residence by evening, her family began looking for her and contacted friends and relatives.Pethapur police inspector AM Desai said the victim knew the accused. “The girl is currently unconscious. She has developed a lung infection, which could have resulted from excessive bleeding. The accused is absconding. Once he is arrested or the girl regains consciousness, her statement will be recorded and the sequence of events will become clearer,” Desai said.Around 5.30am on Saturday, the father of the accused allegedly went to the minor’s home in Kalol and told her family that his son had met her after 3pm on Friday and that they had gone to a hotel. He reportedly told the family that she had suffered injuries during sexual intercourse.Her father said doctors informed the family that she had suffered serious injuries and required stitches after heavy bleeding. She was reportedly taken to multiple hospitals before being admitted to the private hospital in Sargasan.The minor’s fiance claimed the accused may have acted out of jealousy. He said he learned about the incident on Saturday morning after the minor’s phone became unreachable, which led him to contact her family. He also alleged that the accused’s father admitted her to hospital while claiming to be her parent.Police have registered a case under provisions of Pocso Act and other applicable laws. The accused remains at large, and police are investigating the circumstances that led to the minor’s injuries and hospitalisation.
