Prayagraj: Amid chanting ‘Har-Har Gange’, ‘Har-Har Mahadev” and ‘Bol Bam’”, a group of 150 women kanwariyas on Sunday began their kanwar yatra for Mankameshwar temple located in Ghurpur. Under the banner of the ‘Ganga Vichar Manch’ and led by former deputy mayor Anamika Chaudhary, the women devotees first took a holy dip in the Ganga and collected Gangajal and then began their yatra to the famous Mankameshwar Mahadev temple in Ghurpur to perform jalabhishek.Prior to the jalabhishek, the women devotees also conducted a cleanliness drive at Dashashwamedh ghat. They collected plastic waste and litter from the ghat, conveying a message of cleanliness to the public. Anamika Chaudhary appealed devotees and kanwariyas to avoid using single-use polythene and to cooperate in keeping the ghat clean. She said “The Ganga is not merely a symbol of our faith but also a life-giver. It is our duty to preserve her purity and continuous flow. During the month of Shrawan, alongside performing jalabhishek, devotees must also pledge to protect the environment. During the event, volunteers raised awareness about ghat cleanliness and environmental conservation through slogans such as ‘Save Ganga, Save the Country’ and ‘Clean Ghat, Healthy Society’.
